Vox in a Box - Session Vocals

What are session vocals?

Session vocals are when a producer hires a professional singer to record the lead vocals or backing harmonies on an existing track.  Traditionally, hiring a session vocalist meant finding a professional singer geographically near enough to come to your recording studio and record the tracks that you need.  This is both expensive and time consuming, often resulting in vocals you're not completely happy with because of the cost and time constraints.

Or maybe you produce music in your home studio?  Having professional vocals will give your tracks an edge and make them stand out against your competitors.

Now you can hire a virtual session vocalist and have professional vocals for all your tracks, without ever leaving your home or studio.  You can have pro-vocals no matter where you're located in the world.  For more information on how it works, read below, or feel free to contact me to have a chat about your music.

This is all it takes:

1 - Decide

Decide what you want the vocals to 'do' in your track.  Have lyrics and a melody line in place and think carefully about how you want it to sound.  What emotions do you want your vocals to convey?  Sadness, excitement, anger and love are just a few examples of how you could describe it.  Or does your track tell a story?  Tell me about it and I'll change my sound to suit your tracks.  I'm happy to contribute as much as you like, or simply sing exactly what you want, how you want.

2 - Discuss

Contact me and I'll get back to you within 24 hours, guarantees.  We can chat about your track and discuss what you're looking for, how you'd like to proceed, and also discuss contracts and session fees.  There's no obligation to move ahead with anything until you're ready, and I'm happy to work within any deadlines that you may have.

3 - Legal Stuff

The music industry can be a legal minefield, but you'll be 100% protected.  We'll sign a short standard contract that entitles you to COMPLETE copyright over the vocals I record for you.  You'll only have to pay me a one-time fee and the vocals will be yours to keep.

4 - Record

When you decide to go ahead, I'll ask that you send me the following information:

- The track: Ideally this would be the finished track, missing only the vocals
- Tempo: How fast the track is BPM
- Sheet music: With the melody and lyrics included
OR
- Guide vocals + lyric sheet: Provided on a separate channel to the track (so I can mute for recording)
- Deposit: Payment accepted via PayPal or BACS payment

5 - Tweaks

I will record the vocals we discussed and send you a rough version for your approval.  We can then discuss any tweaks that you'd like and I'll adjust the vocals as necessary.

6 - Final Take

When we've finalised the vocals, I will send them to you as raw .wav files to be mixed however you see fit.  I'll take final payment and you will be the legal owner of the professional vocals for your music.
